Swing Bars for Caskets

Swing Bars for Caskets

Swing bars account for 16 items. A swing bar is the bar that carries a casket, mounted through cast fittings that allow the bar to swing. The bar is commonly 19 to 25 millimetre steel tube or round bar, and the fittings are cast pieces, mostly Zamak #3, plated to match the handles on the same casket.

Swing bars are load-bearing, and the company's category band for heavy cast handles and swing-bar hardware is 200 to 300 kilograms per piece. That band describes the family, not a single bar, and the model page governs for any single bar and fitting set. A buyer specifying a swing bar must confirm the model rating, the bar length and the finish together.

For load-bearing swing bars, ask for the load-test record before order confirmation. The company states that load-bearing models are tested on its own test bench and that results are recorded by reference number, with a record available with the order if requested before confirmation. A bar that fits the casket but is rated below the loaded weight is not a safe specification, however good its finish.

The minimum order quantity varies by product, lead time is typically 30 days after order confirmation, and payment is by telegraphic transfer or letter of credit. Shipments leave Wenzhou by full or less than container load. For repeat orders, confirm the finish and the stated load rating again.

Assembling a swing bar

Assembling a swing bar means fitting the bar through its cast fittings at both ends, so that the bar sits evenly and swings freely. Both fittings must align, because a bar fitted out of line at one end will bind at the other, and a bar that binds cannot swing as it should. The assembly should be checked on a sample, with the bar lifted and swung, before a quantity is ordered.

The bar length must match the casket, and the fittings must match the handles in finish. A bar in the wrong finish, or a bar of the wrong length, cannot be corrected by adjusting the fittings, and the assembly should be specified as a whole: bar length, fittings, finish and rating together. For load-bearing bars, the load-test record should be requested before order confirmation, as for any load-bearing model.

Checking a swing bar sample

A swing bar sample should be assembled with its fittings and swung on a real casket, because a bar that has only been looked at has not been tested for the movement and carrying that define it. Check that both fittings align, that the bar swings freely, that it sits evenly, and that its finish matches the handles. A bar that assembles evenly, swings freely and matches in finish can be ordered with confidence, while a bar that binds, sits unevenly or mismatches should be raised before a quantity is ordered.
