Casket Handle Installation Guide
Before installation
Before installing a handle, check three things: that the handle is the model ordered, that its finish matches the other hardware on the same casket, and that its mounting fits the casket. A handle that is the wrong model, the wrong finish or the wrong mounting cannot be fixed by installing it carefully, and it should be returned to the enquiry stage, not installed.
Check the finish against a physical sample, not a photograph, because plated and metallised colours vary on screen. Check the mounting against the casket, because fixed, movable and steel-bar handles mount differently, and a mounting that suits one family will not suit another. Check the bar length against the casket size, because a bar that is too short or too long is a fitting problem.
For load-bearing handles, check the model rating against the casket's loaded weight before installation. A handle rated below the loaded weight must not be installed, however well it fits, because the rating, not the fit, determines whether the handle can carry the casket safely.
Mounting steps in general terms
Mounting in general terms follows the handle family. A fixed handle is mounted rigidly, so its mounting points must align exactly with the casket's mounting positions. A movable handle is mounted through fittings that allow it to swing, so its fittings must allow free movement without looseness. A steel-bar handle is mounted through cast fittings at each end of the bar, so both fittings must align and the bar must sit evenly.
Fittings, corners and ornaments are mounted in the same finish as the handles, so that the finished casket reads as one set. Mounting should be checked as the work proceeds, not only at the end, because a finish mismatch or a misaligned fitting discovered at the end is harder to correct than one discovered at the first handle.
No torque figure, screw specification or adhesive specification is given on this site, because none is published for these handles. A buyer who needs a mounting specification for a particular model should ask the sales team, rather than assuming a figure from a general guide. This guide describes the order of checks, not the engineering of any single mounting.
After installation
After installation, check the whole casket as a set: handles, corners, ornaments, fittings and crucifixes in one finish, all mounted securely, with movable handles swinging freely and fixed handles rigid. Check that no handle is loose, that no fitting is misaligned, and that the finish is consistent across the set.
For a load-bearing handle, the check after installation is visual and manual, not a load test. A load test is a factory test recorded by reference number, not a test to be repeated on a finished casket. If a handle feels loose or misaligned after installation, it should be removed and remounted, not used, because a loose handle is a safety issue, not a cosmetic one.
Keep the model numbers, finishes and ratings for the installed set, so that a repeat order can cite them. The repeat-order guide explains how to phrase that citation, and a set whose details are kept can be reordered consistently, while a set whose details are lost cannot.
Before payment, confirm the model number, material, finish, quantity, lead time and any load-test record for your order with the sales team.
